FAQ — Collaboration
How do I start a collaborative session?
-
One user launches the experience and selects Host Session (or starts with collaboration enabled)
-
Other users launch the same experience and select Join Session
-
Enter the host's IP address or use the session browser if on the same network
All participants must be on the same network or connected via VPN.
How many users can collaborate simultaneously?
The number of concurrent users depends on your network bandwidth and the complexity of the experience. Skyreal VR supports multi-user collaboration, but very large models with many simultaneous users may experience performance degradation.
Can desktop and VR users collaborate?
Yes. Skyreal VR supports mixed-mode collaboration where some users are in VR and others use the desktop interface. All users can see each other's actions in real time.
Why can't I see other users?
-
Check that all users are connected to the same session
-
Verify network connectivity — all machines must be able to communicate via UDP
-
Check firewall settings — port 7777 (or your custom port) must be open
-
Ensure all users are using the same version of Skyreal VR
Can I use VOIP during collaboration?
Yes. Skyreal VR includes built-in voice communication (VOIP). If VOIP fails to connect, it may be due to a previous session not closing properly. Either change the VOIP port in settings or restart your session to free the port.
Are changes synchronized in real time?
Yes. Part movements, selections, annotations, and issue edits are synchronized across all connected users in real time. Some operations (like large product tree expansions) may cause brief synchronization delays.
Can I collaborate in a CAVE setup?
Collaborative sessions are not supported in full CAVE mode due to Unreal Engine limitations. For Powerwall-only setups, collaboration can be enabled with specific configuration parameters.
